* **From Chesapeake Bay to Commercial Fishing**
* **The Trawler’s Life:

He was determined to make a living from the water. He started his career as a commercial fisherman, working on a trawler in the Chesapeake Bay. He learned the ropes, so to speak, and honed his skills in the fishing industry.

The company’s website, reelnice.com, provides detailed information about their services, pricing, and contact information. The website also features a gallery showcasing their work, allowing potential clients to visualize the quality of their services. Reelnice Diving has a strong reputation for reliability, professionalism, and quality.

Bulling’s business runs from April through November, serving around 100 clients during the season. He has a roster of repeat customers and said 10 percent of his client base has monthly or bi-monthly maintenance contracts. Some bring their boats in from Montauk, New Jersey, and Florida, docking them at transient slips in Brooklyn, Broad Channel, Freeport, and other marinas in Nassau County, where Bulling goes to clean them. Last year, he serviced the famed 120-foot-long Sails of Change vessel for the four months that the maxi-trimaran was in New York before it set out to break the trans-Altantic record. This year, he worked on 13 IMOCA yachts that came to New York Harbor for a demonstration race prior to the start of the New York Vendee, a 3,100 nautical mile competition that begins near the Statue of Liberty and ends in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France.

Bulling grew up in Broad Channel, where his love of fishing and boating was nurtured. “Just being out on the water, it was a nice place to be,” he noted. He was 14 when he started delivering The Wave on his bicycle to neighboring residents and the stores along Cross Bay Boulevard, carrying his papers in a basket that was custom-made for him by his dad. He became a certified diver in 2001 and volunteered with the NYPD Harbor Unit for seven years. After he moved to Baldwin Harbor in 2016, Bulling began serving as a volunteer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary as a vessel safety examiner, inspecting boats to ensure they’re equipped to be out on the water.

Bulling’s dedication to his community is evident in his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. He is known for his tireless work ethic, often working long hours and sacrificing personal time to ensure the safety and well-being of others. This dedication is exemplified by his involvement in the boating community, where he is a respected figure known for his expertise and willingness to help.
